It's Okay to not be Okay.

We are humans not robots. We are going to have days when our minds or bodies aren’t up for the effort that we had planned. We will have days that we just need a break, a pause, a rest.

We are going to have days when we just can’t show up for our families and jobs. That’s okay.

Those are the days when we need to show up for ourselves.

I’ll go first.

I’m not okay today. I had two doctor’s appointments, radiology, and medical oncology. I have been poked by technicians taking blood, prodded with questions by staff and doctors, sat in waiting rooms and exam rooms for too long.

(If you don’t know what I’m talking about, click here for an earlier blog post.)

And to make it  worse, the hormone therapy I’m on is causing insomnia and my lack of sleep is not allowing me to heal properly and causing pain. I just can’t continue to pretend that I’m okay.

So, this means I’m going to show up for myself today and rest. I’m going to do the bare minimum today, and I’m okay with that.

Tomorrow is another day, and brings an opportunity to feel better and to be okay.

Today's picture is from the lobby of the cancer center where my appointments were today. I love Autumn.

Be well,

Nikki
