The Art of Moving Through Cycles of Healing and Growth

Art.

On our spiritual awakening paths, personal growth paths, or however we define it, we are moving through many cycles of healing and growth. Each one brings its own art to our lives. Each cycle has its own way of changing us.

Each cycle, no matter what it brings, has a pattern. And, if we are able to recognize the pattern, we can move through each cycle with awareness, intention, and more ease. The cycles then become something we have awareness of as healing and growth which then allows us to maximize their potential to create change in our lives.

After years of experiencing these cycles, I am sharing the art that I see in the patterns and how I move through them more quickly and effectively. Most of it is about our awareness, but each of us will have a unique experience.

Our ability to bring awareness to where we are in the cycle, allows us to manage ourselves and move through the cycles with more ease. Even when we are able to do that, we aren’t perfect, we are human. We still have challenging cycles to move through and experience. But with awareness and intention we can move through them in a way that benefits us no matter what the challenge.

Signs.

There are often signs that changes are coming. Sometimes there are number synchronicities, sometimes there are intuitive messages, and sometimes we don’t even see changes coming. But if there are synchronicities and messages, bring awareness to the messages.

Our awareness can tell us that changes are coming and that we can be open to the changes and ready for whatever comes. The signs are meant to prepare us for what is to come and it is our awareness of them that can allow us to have a better experience. Even through intense cycles of healing and growth.

Our healing and growth isn’t meant to catch us off guard. Our spiritual lives are co-created with Spirit and soul. They are trying to notify us that change is coming so that we can surrender and go with the flow. And, yes, sometimes it is easier said than done, but it is worthy of our efforts.

The signs and synchronicities are the beginning of the cycle. They are our first clue that we are entering a time of opportunity to heal and grow.

Reaction.

We are human and have emotions that need to be expressed. Emotions are energy in motion and they need to keep moving. What we are healing on our spiritual paths and personal growth paths are often unexpressed emotions. The things we weren’t allowed to express, or didn’t know how to express, as we moved through those traumatic events and life’s challenges.

Most of our healing and growth will dig up trauma, challenges, or emotions that we never expressed. Often it is something in our lives that elicits a strong reaction and inspires strong emotion.

A side note here, for clarity sake. I'm trying to remove all weapons related language from my vocabulary. Rather than “trigger”, I use “reaction” or "inspiration". I hope that clarifies what I’m speaking to in this post.

Our healing and growth stems from our reactions to energies, people, places, things, and situations. By bringing our awareness to our reaction, we can recognize it as an area that is coming up for healing and growth.

We can then move through the reaction knowing that it serves the purpose of healing and growth rather than remain in a reactive state. Moving beyond the reactivity into acknowledgement is part of moving through the cycle.

Acknowledgment.

Now that we know our reaction is part of a cycle of healing and growth, we can begin acknowledging what is coming up for us. We can bring awareness to what we are reacting to. We do so with either gentle investigation within us or awareness of prior cycles.

A gentle investigation looks like questions we ask ourselves. What emotions are we experiencing? Why are we reacting in this way? What does this relate to in our life? What past trauma or current situation is inspiring our reaction?

By understanding what inspired our reaction, we can begin to acknowledge what is coming up to heal. We can acknowledge that we are reacting and emoting because what we are experiencing is touching that part of us that was traumatized.

This acknowledgment means that we recognize what happened, how we felt, and how it impacted us. With that we can bring new awareness or another perspective from this current version of ourselves. In doing so, we are ready and able to express what we were never allowed or able to express before.

Expression.

With acknowledgment of what is coming up for us in the current cycle, we can now begin to express the emotions that have been stagnant. We can cry, or rage, or bring compassion to ourselves. Expression will look differently to each of us and differently within each cycle.

We may find ourselves healing a part of us that we didn’t know needed to be healed. Something that we forgot long ago, or something that impacted us deeply that we didn’t know was available to heal. Each situation will have something that needs to be felt, or said, or forgiven.

Sometimes we have emotions to express. Sometimes we have something we need to say to ourselves, self-nurturing, or a new perspective that helps us move through the cycle of healing. Sometimes we are ready to forgive ourselves for what we did or did not do, and for our part in our trauma and challenges. And, sometimes we are ready to forgive others for their part in our trauma and challenges.

If we aren’t sure what we need to express, we can ask our intuition, ask our soul, or ask Spirit. They know the path. They know the way. But it is most likely that what needs to be expressed will do so naturally. Crying, raging, gentle conversations with ourselves, all will happen as it should by surrendering to the cycle.

Release.

Once we’ve moved through the expression and we’ve found relief, next is releasing the old energies. By releasing the old energies, what no longer resonates or aligns, we are clearing our energy body. We are coming back into balance and completing the cycle.

The intention is to release ourselves from past versions and to relieve ourselves of all that we’ve healed from in the cycle. We then come into energetic balance and return to our own authentic vibration. This allows for Spirit and soul to move us forward on our path. Thus completing the cycle.

Sometimes the expression and release occur at the same time or in the same way. But with intention, we can release the energy and move through the cycle with a greater sense of completion.

Releasing all that is ready to be released, all that no longer resonates, all that no longer aligns, completes the cycle. It ensures that we have let go of the old and are ready for the new. It allows us to move forward lighter and freer. It allows us to become that clean and clear vessel through which Spirit and soul can continue their work within us.

Cycles.

Our spiritual awakenings are all about cycles of healing and growth. Each one moving us forward towards another more healed, more conscious, more authentic version of ourselves. Each one clearing the path towards our highest expression of ourselves and towards fulfillment of our purposes.

Each phase within the cycle is necessary and part of how we move forward on our spiritual paths. The phases are unique and also related. Each one is needed to fulfill part of our healing and growth. Each one serves a purpose.

Most of how we move through cycles of healing and growth centers around awareness. It is our awareness that allows us to move through each phase more effectively. It is our conscious awareness that allows us to know which part of the cycle we are in. Awareness is key.

When we have awareness of what is happening for us we can move through it with more confidence, and with more faith and trust in the process. And that means we are moving forward on our spiritual path with more ease.
