How to Find Your Soul's Purposes

So many of us are seeking purpose and meaning in our lives. We look to our work or to be of service to our communities. We look towards our families, either born to or chosen. We look and look, sending feelers out to see if we can find our soul’s purpose. Some of us find it, and some of us are still seeking.

For those of us who are still seeking our purposes, our soul’s purpose, there is another way. Instead of seeking and looking outside ourselves, we can go inward. We can connect with our soul and create a relationship that naturally and effectively allows us to discover our purposes, from the source, our soul.

Our purposes aren’t just something we were sent here to do, they are what our souls were sent here to do, or be. Our purposes are their path, our souls’ path. It is why they are here at this time. It is their unique role to fulfill in this great interconnected universe.

Notice that I’m writing “purposes”, plural. That’s intentional. We have more than just one purpose. We have many. The longer the life, the more purposes we have. And we are as varied in purpose as we are varied as humans, and souls.

Some of us show up and our purposes are fulfilled with ease. They happen naturally for some of us. For others of us we search and seek for them. Because that is part of our path. For others our purposes are created after traumatic events. We overcome and help others.

Our purposes can be almost anything. They can be the love we have for our families. They can be about how we serve our communities. They can be about our personal growth and how we choose to change our lives. They can be about serving the collective and sharing our love and wisdom with the world.

Our souls’ purposes all have one thing in common, our souls. So rather than continue to search outside of ourselves, we can go to the source. Our souls.

We can connect with our soul and create a relationship that provides for our best and highest good. We can create a deeper relationship with ourselves. And we can allow our soul to guide us towards discovery and fulfillment of our purposes.

A Soul-Based Life.

When I first set the intention to know myself better, I had no idea that it would lead to the discovery of my soul’s purposes. My life was busy and I had buried myself in work to avoid areas of my life that I was not ready to change. As a result, I was cut off from myself. I was shut down emotionally and physically.

Like many people do, I experienced burnout in my work life. As I was recovering and trying to make changes, I realized that I had no idea what I wanted to do or even what I liked to do. I had abandoned myself and paid the price for it. Setting the intention to know myself better, to know myself at a soul level, was the spark that lit the flame of my soul.

One night, as I was focusing on self-care, change came. I was in a hot, salty, lavender-filled, bathtub. The candles provided a warm glow and the meditation music in my headphones completed the relaxing atmosphere. It was bliss.

I began receiving energy and messages into my awareness. For a time, I thought it was Spirit coming through with downloads, but no. I noticed a candle flickering, synchronizing with the messages. I called her “Flame” and began to gently investigate this new energy. There were questions asked but we couldn’t quite communicate. We needed a common language - our intuition.

After a few trials and errors, we got there. I asked “What does a “yes” feel like? My body twitched and wiggled at the same time. I called it a “twiggle”. Next I asked “What does a “no” feel like? I felt a deep stillness within. The “no” was stillness. We had the beginnings of our intuitive language.

With yes/no questions we began to get to know each other. Or rather, I got to know myself on a soul level. Soon I was able to ask my soul almost anything and get an answer. It was life-changing.

In the beginning my soul, Flame, helped me with the little things around the house. What we were hungry for or what we wanted to wear. Then I began deeper, more important questions. My trust developed over time.

Wanting to improve our connection, I set out to develop my intuition. After a quick search for a “how to”, I began using tarot cards. I would set the intention to draw cards for the energies of the week. I read the cards and picked up the intuitive guidance from them using the yes/no questions. I would write the messages in my journal and then check them later in the week to determine if my understanding of my intuitive guidance was correct.

Over time, soul Flame and I honed our intuitive communication. We deepened our understanding of each other and further developed our communication. We worked on the relationship. And my trust grew.

Over time, I began to understand her role in my life as a bridge between me and the Divine. We were co-creators of my life experience and my spiritual awakening.  She helped me through life's choices and challenges.

As my relationship with my soul developed I began to know myself better. She guided me to the things that we loved to be and do. She guided me to self-care and self-nurturing. She guided me to fulfill my needs. She guided us forward on a path that aligned us with what she and we were sent here to be and do - our purposes.

Then one day, out of the blue, I received awareness that some of what we were doing was our purpose. My curiosity kicked in and I began to ask questions. What purpose had we fulfilled? Had we fulfilled other purposes? What other purposes are we working to fulfill?

As much as I felt fulfilled in my purposes, my soul guided me towards fulfillment in all areas of my life. I began to know myself better as my soul guided me to all the things I loved to be and do. I spent more of my time doing what I loved to do because my soul guided me. Every area of my life became more fulfilling because my soul was guiding me to a more authentic version of myself. I was living a soul-based life, a purposeful life.

Set the Intention for Connection.

Our souls’ are with us always. They know us and see us better than we see ourselves. Remember, our souls are the Divine within us. They are our bridge to the Divine. They know it and see it all.

Just like any relationship, connection begins with the intention to get to know one another. Setting the intention to connect, create a relationship, and to go deeper, or discover our purposes, is the first action item.

The intention can be as simple as, “I set the intention to know myself and my soul.” It can also be, “I set the intention to create a relationship with my soul.”, or “I set the intention to co-create my life with my soul.” Another intention is, “I set the intention to discover my soul and our purposes.”

Intention setting can happen anywhere and anytime. Setting the intention to connect with our soul can happen in the bathtub or in meditation, in the car while we’re driving or on the bus while we’re riding. In nature or in our room. In a crowd or in our sacred space.

Whenever it feels right, we can go inward to that quiet place where it is easier to hear our soul. And we can ask to connect with ourselves and our soul, more deeply. The response may take time. Be patient, the connection is worth it.

Next, we wait for a response and be open to what comes and how it comes. Be open to signs or synchronicities. Be open to messages that guide us forward towards the next step or action.

Each of us will have a unique experience in our soul connection. Each of us will establish a unique connection. Be ready and open for whatever comes.

Communication is Vital in all Relationships.

Once the connection is established, communication can begin. Our intuition is the language of our souls. Developing our intuition is how we communicate and deepen our relationship.

We can use tarot cards or other divining tools to develop our intuition. We can use any tool that speaks to us and our soul. Anything that resonates with us. Anything we are guided to by our soul.

Our clair senses are part of our intuition so it’s likely that as we develop our intuition, our soul communication will employ our clair senses. And they too will develop.

Our souls will help inspire us and show us the best way to develop our communication. They will subtly guide us forward. Progress may be slow in the beginning, but progress is still progress. Our souls are worthy of our patience, as are we, as is the connection.

Take time and care building the communication.  Our souls came here knowing our path, they are ready for us. And ready for the connection, it is our human mind we need to manage more than our soul.

Now that our communication is developing, so too will our relationship.

Relationships are Relationships.

All relationships require commitment to develop them. Our relationship with our soul is no different. Over time it will change, grow, and develop just like any other relationship.

It is a beautiful relationship and should be nurtured as such. Whatever we give to the relationship with our soul will be returned to us. Whatever we ask will be provided for, as long as it is in alignment with us, our path, and purposes.

By being an active participant in the relationship with ourselves, our soul, we are co-creating a more meaningful life. A life of purpose. A life of greater fulfillment. A life of soul purpose fulfillment.

When we are seeking our purpose, our reason for being here, we need to go to the source. Our souls know why they are here and why we are here. They know our purposes, and they know the path towards fulfillment.

Our connections, our relationships, with our souls change our lives. Whether we are pursuing our purposes or seeking greater fulfillment in our lives, our souls know the way. They are ready and waiting for us to connect. Ready to provide all that we need by creating a deeper and more authentic version of us. Ready to fulfill our purposes.
