Seeking Purpose.
There are so many of us seeking purpose and meaning in our lives. The lives we live and the world we live in are no longer providing fulfillment. We move through our days and check the boxes. We fulfill our responsibilities, but not our souls.
Some of us know that we are here, in this lifetime, for a reason. We also know that the jobs we go to most days aren’t it. We are doing what we have to for survival, but we aren’t thriving.
So we seek purpose. We seek who our soul came here to be and what our soul came here to do. We are seeking that which fulfills us and fill us with a sense of wholeness. We seek that which makes us feel at home within ourselves.
Often, though, we look outside of ourselves. We look for that person, or that thing, that touches that need within us. We look for purpose and meaning all around us. We look towards many activities, and for some of us fulfillment seems out of reach.
We keep looking for that one thing that scratches that itch we can’t seem to reach - fulfillment. Whether we call it meaning, purpose, or soul’s purpose, it is what will fulfill us. It is what we are here for, it is who our soul came here to be, it is what our soul came here to do. Until we find it, parts of our lives seem unfulfilling and empty.
There are many ways we try to fill the void. As humans we seek refuge in many activities - drugs, alcohol, meaningless relationships, meaningless jobs. But there comes a point in our lives when none of it is satisfying. None of it fulfills us.
Some of us begin to seek a different existence. We begin to seek change and begin to make different decisions. Then our life begins to change. And change is good, because it means we’re no longer stuck in what wasn’t working. But we still aren’t fulfilled.
Then one day, we start asking for fulfillment. We ask for a deeper relationship with the world and with our soul. Then our lives begin to change in bigger ways. We begin to tap into a part of us that had been dormant. A part of us we never knew before. Our soul.
Once we connect with our soul, we begin changing in ways we may have never anticipated. But we are brave because we are following the direction of our soul. We begin to find new ways of being and doing. Ways that feel more like us, more aligned with our soul.
Then there comes a time when we begin being a more elevated version of ourselves. Finding fulfillment in the way we move through the world. We begin doing things we only dreamed of, or daydreamed of, doing. We find that we are happier and more fulfilled than we ever have been.
For some of us, life changes us. A change in circumstances or a sudden traumatic event happens and then we become a new version of ourselves. We learn to live in a new way and we realize that we have survived and maybe even thrived in a new way. We may even seek meaning in the events that changed our lives.
We find new work. We find our creativity. We find our passion projects. We find our service to our communities. We find who we love to be and what we love to do. We share it with others in big or in small ways, locally or globally. And we begin to feel fulfilled.
That is what purpose is - to be and do what our souls were sent here for. That is where we find our deepest fulfillment. That is what we are seeking when everything else just doesn’t scratch that itch.
Our soul’s purposes can be almost anything. Each of us has unique purposes, many purposes, not just one. There is no way our souls were sent here for just one thing. This planet, this universe, is too vast and interconnected for our souls to have come for just one thing.
Some of our purposes began when we were born, and with the family we were born into. Some of our purposes happened when we found a new family. Some of our purposes occurred when we met someone and inspired them without knowing. Some of our purposes happened because we turned our biggest challenge into an inspiring platform. Some of our purposes were fulfilled when we loved someone.
Our soul’s purposes are not monolithic. We have many and they are as varied and diverse as humans are. Some are local and some are global. Some are one on one, and some impact large groups. Some are never seen and some are public.
We may be seeking that one thing, but I promise, it is more likely that we have already fulfilled many of our soul’s purposes. And the fact that we are still seeking means that there are more purposes for us to fulfill.
Our soul’s purposes are an inside job. They are our soul’s purposes. Which means that rather than seek outside ourselves, we can begin by seeking inward. We can go to the source - our soul.
How to Find Your Soul’s Purposes.
What I am sharing here is what I did that led me to finding and fulfilling my soul’s purposes. They are less about taking the steps, one after the other, and more about actions that allowed me to discover what my purposes were.
It all started with desiring change in almost every area of the life I worked so hard to build, but ultimately was unsatisfying. It was also part of my spiritual awakening, but it wasn’t dependent upon my awakening process.
Finding, and fulfilling, my purpose was an intention that I set after connecting with my soul in a deep and meaningful way. So that, if there is a step one, is it.
Part 1 - Connect with Your Soul - Our soul’s purposes are just that, our soul’s purposes. Who better to ask or allow to guide us than our souls? Rather than seeking for purpose or fulfillment outside of us, we can go to the source, the subject matter expert, our soul. No matter what our purposes are, or how far away we are from them, our souls can guide us to them. It starts with an intention for a connection, a conversation, and a relationship with our soul. A shared language, our intuition, deepens the relationship. And with a healthy relationship with our soul, we align with all that is meant for us.
Part 2 - Gratitude, Self-Care, and Forgiveness - As we connect with our souls and begin to change our lives, almost anything can happen. We may learn things about ourselves that may change us. Above all, move through it with gratitude. Gratitude for our soul connection, the path, the process, and the purposes. Remember to practice self-care because fulfilling our purposes is worth our best. Be gentle as we move through whatever we need to move through to align with our purposes. And, as we learn about ourselves and make changes, forgiveness is often needed.
Part 3 - Manifest Alignment to Your Purposes - As popular as manifesting, and using the law of attraction is, why not use it for the things we seek most? When we manifest alignment to our purposes, our life will begin to change for us. Our souls, through our intuition, will take us places that we couldn’t imagine, but are necessary to fulfill our purposes.
Part 4 - Ignore the Haters, Skeptics, and Doubters, Especially if They are Within Your Own Thoughts - No matter what we do someone will have something to say about it. When our goal is aligning with, and fulfilling our purposes, that is more important than anyone else’s opinion. No one in our lives may understand why we are changing or what is happening in our lives, and that’s okay. If it is our inner critic or ego mind that is doubting, we can work with that. We can quiet that inner noise, fight back, or ignore and move forward. The point is to prioritize our purpose and not let anyone stand in our way of fulfillment.
Part 5 - Connect with Spirit - Our souls are our direct connection with Spirit and are also our support system. On our path towards fulfillment of our soul’s purposes we can use all the help we can get. Spirit in all forms, in any form, has a vested interest in us humans living our purpose. They can and will help, if we ask. But to ask first requires a connection. The better and deeper the connection we have with, the more support we have available to us.
Part 6 - Be Receptive to what Comes - Our souls’ purposes can be anything and they may look like nothing we have ever experienced before. It is important that we are open to whatever comes our way as we align with our purposes. This includes releasing fear or resistance to where our soul is sending us. It may also include releasing judgement of what our purpose is, and releasing attachment to what we thought it would be. We never know where things will lead us to, but we need to trust.
Part 7 - Use Every Spiritual Practice You Know to Help You - As we move towards discovering and fulfilling our soul’s purposes, we can leverage every tool in our toolbox to help us. Meditation, crystals, energy hygiene, or spending time in nature, whatever helps us feel better will help us align with our soul and our purposes.
Part 8 - Astrology Can Guide You - Our astrological natal charts can tell us a lot about ourselves including clues as to what our soul’s purposes are. There are placements within our chart that offer clues and can guide us forward on the path to purpose.
Part 9 - Be Patient and Keep Moving Forward - Fulfilling our soul’s purposes may be a long process and may take longer than we realize. There may be times when we take big leaps forward, and then there may be times when it feels like we aren’t making progress. But progress sometimes happens when it seems we aren’t moving forward. Be patient. Trust the process. Our souls’ know the path towards our purposes and fulfillment.

We need more people living their unique path and sharing their unique gifts. We need more people feeling fulfilled. We need more people living their soul’s purposes.
