Part 8 - Astrology can guide you.
I may never know exactly when my spiritual path began, but in the past I have identified it as the first time I had my astrological natal chart read. At the time, I was searching for a career change, but what I really needed was an entirely new life.
After the reading, I walked away with a spark of new energy, a new direction, an intention, and ultimately, my purpose. The astrologer left me with two words, “trust” and “write”. They became an affirmation, and an intention for my life.
A year after the reading, I began writing this blog. Six months after that I realized that I was experiencing a spiritual awakening. A few years later I learned that both were fulfillment of my soul's purposes. They were in my natal chart. Trust and write.
If you’re new to astrology our natal chart is a snapshot of the planetary alignment at the date, time, and place we were born. Our charts can tell us all about ourselves. Our Sun, Moon, and Ascendent placements can tell us a lot about who we are and how we operate in the world and in our lives. Our Pluto sign and house, and our North Node sign and house, can tell us about our soul’s path and purpose.
Time for a disclaimer. I am not a professional astrologer, but I have studied astrology. I'm sharing what helped me discover my purposes in hopes that you can too.
The Reading.
When we are ready for a reading, there are some things we can do to ensure we get the most out of it. We want to choose someone who resonates with us and someone we feel comfortable with. As the client our responsibility is to communicate clearly, listen closely, and ask clarifying questions.
Whether the astrologer is recommended by a friend or we found them online, make sure they resonate. We will get more out of the reading when we are an active participant. The better we can communicate with our astrologer, the better the reading.
Set the intention for the reading. Let the astrologer know that you are seeking your soul’s path and purpose. They should ask about the intention, but if not, mention it. This will ensure that we are focusing on the thing we want most out of the reading.
There is a lot of information on our natal charts, but not a lot of detail. Our charts, as interpreted by an astrologer, will provide clues and a path. We may receive general directions, or even words, that we can then use as an intention that helps move us forward. Listen closely and ask questions for clarity.
From the reading we can gather clues, synthesize the information, and see what resonates for us in our lives. The astrologers know our charts and we know us. Bringing that together, synthesizing the information, can show us our path forward.
The Placements.
There are a few placements in our natal charts that speak to our soul’s path and purpose. Each one is like a piece to the puzzle. An astrologer can help us understand the placements and we can interpret them and how they align in our life.
If we know astrology and how to read our chart we can do our own reading. There are placements that speak directly to our soul path and our purposes. And of course, there is the internet to help us synthesize the information.
Pluto’s sign and house. The planet Pluto represents our soul’s intention and how we are to evolve in this life. The sign, house, and perhaps the degree where Pluto is found in our chart can help us understand our path in this life.
For example, my natal Pluto is in Virgo and in the fourth house. I interpret my soul purpose as being here to heal emotionally, break generational cycles, and experience deep transformation through a spiritual awakening. Combine that with my Mercury in Pisces, part of my path is to write about my healing, transformation, and spiritual awakening.
North Node’s sign and house. The North Node in astrology represents our path to fulfill our soul’s purpose. It represents our growth in this life. It can tell us how we move forward and what we are to learn. It shows us our challenges and rewards.
For example, my natal North Node is in Taurus in my eleventh house. I’m here to learn to love myself. To do that I had to overcome abandonment of myself and abuse by others. It wasn’t easy, but I did it. It was aligned with the energies in my chart. It was one of my soul’s purposes.
Another take away from my North Node in Taurus in my eleventh house, I had to learn to trust the gifts that I carry within me. It also encourages me to be playful and joyful. It tells me to use my creative gifts for a larger purpose. It is how I know that writing about my spiritual awakening and helping others find their soul’s purpose is one of my purposes.
South Node’s sign and house. At the opposite point of the North Node is our South Node placement. It represents challenges and karma that we are to evolve through in this lifetime.
My natal South Node is in Scorpio in the fifth house. As it resonates with me, it represents transformation through creativity. My path was destined to be what it is, a path of transformation and writing about it, or creating videos. My path was always going to be about sharing my spiritual transformation.
Astrology.
Astrology isn’t as simple as I make it sound here, but it does have the ability to provide clues and guidance on our path towards purpose fulfillment. A natal chart reading with a professional astrologer can be an important part of our path.
The point of the reading is to gather the clues and synthesize it to what we know of our life. What resonates? In what aspects do we feel the pull towards purpose? What is our intuition telling us? What are soul and Spirit telling, showing, and guiding us towards? What lights us up?
Our path towards fulfillment of our purposes is not random. We are feeling pulled towards it because it is meant to be part of our lives. And that can be found in our astrology.
